'OMG 2' DIRECTOR AMIT RAISE ON FILM CERTIFICATE

The producers of “OMG 2” announced on Sunday, August 20 that after being “heartbroken” by the censorship board’s decision to restrict adult viewing (certificate A), the producers made movies satisfied with the reaction of the audience. 'OMG 2' earned 101.61 cores at the domestic box office within 10 days of its release. Amit Rai said: "We are heartbroken because we made the movie for everyone to see, now that can't happen. We begged them to give us a U/A certificate (children under 12 can watch movies under parental supervision) but they didn't. We tried to convince them until the last minute... But then they went a certain distance, we went a certain distance. The film was released with edits."

Amit told PTI in an interview, "We're glad that people liked the movie. The purpose of the film is pure. No one wants to incite the audience, so they love it. We handled it (the story) in a way that didn't sound vulgar. We talk about reality but in a sweet and funny way."

When asked if the team would offer “OMG 2” on OTT without any changes, Amit said yes. "We decided to show the original movie (online), a movie the censors never wanted people to see, but... The public saw the film and made its judgment. If the censorship board doesn't understand, what can you say?".

SUCCESSFULLY FIND A MANUFACTURER FOR 'OMG 2'

Initially, Amit said he had difficulty finding a producer for the film. “OMG 2” is produced by Cape of Good Films and Wakaoo Films, and produced by Viacom18 Studios. According to the famous writer and director of 2010's Road To Sangam, many significant producers refused to finance the film.

“I went to almost nine producers and most of them rejected the script because of its boldness. Someone even said: "It's rude and rude". That surprised me,” he said.

"I was wondering how we would make this film. Luckily, someone introduced me to Ashwin Varde, Vipul Shah, and Rajesh Behl. They took me to Akshay Kumar, who said: "It's an interesting and important topic." I thought if you had a producer like Akshay Kumar, everything would be easy," he recalls.

"The sequel is different from the first. Because OMG is the story of an atheist, while OMG 2 is the story of an atheist. We started thinking about what the story could be when we can incorporate this that the main character is a believer of God,” he said.

AMIT ON ASSESSING YAMI GAUTAM AS A LAWYER

Since the first season, led by Paresh Rawal and Kumar, was "male-dominated", Amit said they wanted a lawyer for the courtroom scene in the sequel. In OMG 2, Yami Gautam plays lawyer Kamini Maheshwari.

"We thought if we could do something around women... because the first part was dominated by men. Then we thought we might have a female lawyer for the sequel, " I said.
