The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, declared on Saturday that it would participate in the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar. This decision might further splinter the Opposition's unity in the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Sandeep Pathak, the general secretary of the AAP, met in the nation's capital with the members of the AAP's Bihar Unit.
In Bihar, there will be elections for the legislature in 2025.
Sandeep Pathak strongly emphasized growing the party in Bihar at the meeting. Ajesh Yadav, the Bihar in-charge and a Delhi-based AAP MLA, also attended the meeting.
It is Bihar's misfortune that, due to dishonest politics, the state has not been able to advance as it ought to have. Elections will be held in Bihar, according to Pathak.
In order to grow their organization, Pathak also asked the party leaders in Bihar to form building committees in every village.
"We will run in the Bihar elections, but the timing will be decided by the party. In Bihar, we cannot immediately run for office; instead, we must first strengthen the organization. In each community, we will have to set up our own committee. From this point forward, we must put in a lot of effort to grow and enhance the organization. We will run for office and win if the organization grows stronger, said Pathak.
Pathak emphasized the need for a solid organization when he indicated that AAP would fight the Bihar election with all of its might, just as it did in Gujarat.Â
Pathak attacked the BJP, claiming that PM Modi has only given speeches during the past nine years in response to the country's current problems.
He remarked of the opposition group, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), "While opinions might differ, the country comes first." The choice on coalitions will be made later, he continued, adding that "AAP is a national party and will contest Lok Sabha elections."
BJP's RESPONSE
BJP leader and former Union minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain responded to AAP's announcement that it would run in the Bihar Assembly elections by saying that the move would be difficult for those who had invited them (AAP) to the state.
