PM congratulates Chandrayaan-3's achievement and announces that 6 countries would join BRICS in 2024


At the 15th BRICS Summit on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India welcomed the expansion of the association of major international economies. After South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the admission of six new member states, PM Modi expressed his support.

"I am pleased that this three-day meeting produced many fruitful outcomes. At the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, Prime Minister Modi stated that India has always backed the addition of new members.

He said: "I am pleased that our teams have jointly decided on guiding principles, standards, criteria, and procedures for BRICS expansion."

According to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier today, the BRICS organization will extend invitations to six countries to join as full members. These nations will join Brazil, Russia, China, India, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

"We have decided to invite Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates to join BRICS as full members. The membership will take effect in January 2024, according to the president of South Africa.

At the BRICS, PM Modi praises India's moon mission.

PM Modi mentioned the nation's Chandrayaan-3 success and the mission's successful soft landing on the moon during the summit. The Vikram lander's dusk landing on the surface of the Moon on Wednesday marked the beginning of history as written by Chandrayaan-3.

The Prime Minister expressed his extreme pride while speaking about the accomplishment, stating, "India's Chandrayaan-3 made a soft landing on the moon yesterday. This is a significant accomplishment for the entire scientific community, not just in India.

We take great delight in the fact that this accomplishment is seen as a triumph for all of humanity. I thank the scientists and the global scientific community for their good wishes on this historic occasion on behalf of India, its people, and our scientists," he said.
