President Draupadi Murmu emphasized educating women for social progress  

 


Madras University recently held its 165th convocation with President Draupadi Murmu as the guest of honor. The ceremony saw the awarding of more than a thousand degrees to deserving graduates. In his speech, the President emphasized the important role educated women play in shaping the future of the nation.

She points out that educated women can make a significant contribution to the economy, take on leadership roles in various fields, and make a positive impact on society.

GENDER EQUALITY COMMITMENT

The University of Madras, known for its commitment to gender equality, currently has about 1.85,000 students, more than 50% of whom are female. President Murmu praised the university as a shining example of promoting equal opportunities for women in education. “We are investing in the advancement of our nation,” said the president, by investing in girls' education. She emphasized that educated women can contribute more to the economy, take on leadership roles in different fields and have a positive impact on society.

Congratulations to the graduates, Murmu said the area is the cradle of civilization and culture. "Tirukkural has guided us all for centuries."

The President also highlighted the great tradition of bhakti poetry that originated in Tamil Nadu and was adopted by wandering saints across the country. The exquisite temple architecture, statues and sculptures of Tamil Nadu have been recognized by President Murmu as a dedication to human excellence. Ahead of her speech at the convocation, President Draupadi Murmu was honored with the honor guard at Raj Bhavan.
