Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India's 'women-led development approach', government efforts to reduce poverty, and a growing middle class in his final Independence Day speech, ahead of the 2024 general election. "I dream of creating two million 'lakhpati didis' in the country. Today, 10 million women are affiliated with women's self-help groups," added the Prime Minister.
He added that "the only thing that will move the country forward is women-led development."
"Today we can proudly say that India has the largest number of civil aviation pilots. Female scientists are leading the Chandrayaan mission. The G20 countries also recognize the importance of women-led development,” he said.
