Manipur Minister N Biren Singh said on Friday that restoring peace and normalcy is paramount in the state divided by ethnic strife.
He urged residents to redouble their efforts to make up for lost time due to the ethnic violence that has rocked the northeastern state since May 3.
Biren Singh, who spoke on the occasion of Sadbhavana Diwas, sought positive suggestions and guidance for the welfare and unity of the state.
The schedule to see the Sadbhavana Diwas takes place on Friday instead of August 20 because daylight falls on the weekend.
“Restoring peace and normalcy is paramount. All should refrain from commenting and engaging in discussions that may upset other communities,” he said.
There will be different opinions, but everyone should put their personal interests aside and focus more on the common good. "The main goal now is to restore peace," he said.
“Everybody should redouble their efforts to get the pace of development back and the state back towards the unity and progress it has been making for the past six years,” said Biren Singh.
He also expressed gratitude for the support, advice, and follow-up from the central leadership of the state.
