Shashi Tharoor and Sachin Pilot played an important role in the reform of the parliamentary leadership

Sachin Pilot and Shashi Tharoor have been inducted into the Congressional Work Committee (CWC) in a reshuffle of the top decision-making body of Parliament headed by Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge.

Senior National Assembly official Shashi Tharoor, in a post on X, said he was "very honored" by the party's decision to appoint him to the Parliament's workings committee.

He added: “As someone who is aware of the CWC's historic role in guiding the party for the past 138 years, I am honored and grateful to be a part of this organization.

He said he was humbled and grateful to be a part of this organization and looked forward to the opportunity to serve the party with his devoted colleagues.

The Working Committee serves as the executive body of the National Assembly and has final decision-making power in the interpretation and implementation of the party's charter.

39 REPRESENTATIVES TO THE MEETING

The reconstituted Congressional Work Committee consisted of 39 members, among them Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Pilots Sachin and Shashi Tharoor, among others.

The decision to introduce Pilot Sachin to the committee was made ahead of the Rajasthan Parliament elections in an attempt to ease tensions between him and Rajasthan Premier Ashok Gehlot.

SACHIN PILOT INCLUDED IN THE COMMITTEE

Since Parliament came to power in Rajasthan in 2018, Gehlot and Pilot have waged a war for influence. In 2020, Pilot led an uprising against the Gehlot government, which resulted in his removal from the position of Deputy Minister.

However, in July this year, Pilot Sachin said he had decided to resolve his disagreements with Gehlot to form a united front before the elections in Rajasthan, based on advice from the national leadership. Mallikarjun Kharge association. Shashi Tharoor, Anand Sharma, and Mukul Wasnik, who were among the group of 23 leaders who questioned the leadership of the party under Sonia Gandhi in 2020, are among the joint members of the new CWC.

Former Punjab Ministers Charanjit Singh Channi and Pratibha Singh were also included in the important council.

The CWC was formed a few months after Kharge became party chairman on October 10 last year and replaced the steering committee established as an interim deal.
