The Supreme Court on Friday refused to stay research on the Gyanvapi Mosque by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
“Only non-invasive methods should be used in the investigation. Do not excavate or destroy any part of the structure,” said the senior court position consisting of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Judges Manoj Misra and JB Pardiwala.

The higher court also said it found no fault with the orders issued by the Varanasi District Court.
The Supreme Court also rejected a request by the Gyanvapi Mosque management committee to keep the investigative report confidential until the court decides on the Hindu plaintiffs' viability to uphold the case.
