Tarun Tahiliani criticized "Made in Heaven 2" for misrepresenting his designs

Celebrated fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani, in a series of Instagram Stories posted on Thursday, expressed displeasure about the erroneous use of his designs in the second season of Prime Video's popular web series 'Made in Heaven'.

The designer claimed that “significant portions of the second episode of 'Made in Heaven 2' were styled using clothes provided by the Tarun Tahiliani studio in good faith to the stylist.” He added that it was unfortunate that his designs were falsely represented by a fictitious designer in the web series.

“It is most unfortunate when a popular OTT series violates the understanding behind the provision of clothing in the first place! Case in point:
Significant portions of the second episode of 'Made in Heaven,' were styled using clothes provided by the Tarun Tahiliani studio in good faith to the stylist,” he wrote.

Calling it a “shocking breach of faith”, the designer added:
“Unfortunately, a fictitious designer (actor) representing a fictitious label presented our garments! This is a shocking breach of faith.”

Tahiliani also shared stills from the web series in which Mrunal Thakur is seen trying wedding ensembles at a studio in the presence of a fictitious fashion designer.

Tahiliani, who earlier shared photos of Mrunal Thakur and Sobhita Dhulipala dressed in his creations for the show on Instagram posts, said that the production house should have engaged a costume designer if that was their intent. "If this is what the producers have planned, they should hire a costume designer, design the costumes and get on with it as they see fit," he wrote, adding that he hopes hope that the scenario won't happen again to other creators who "have graciously lent their work to OTT products".

"Moreover, we hope that such actions will never be deemed acceptable in the future," the statement concluded.

Fashion stylist Bhawna Sharma, who styled the Made In Heaven 2 cast, has yet to comment on the matter.
