The man calls Tirumala's control room, threatening to kill the worshipers with an explosion; stop

A 39-year-old man from Tamil Nadu was arrested in Tirupati on Saturday after allegedly carrying out a fake bomb attack.

The defendant, from Salem in Tamil Nadu, has been identified as B Balaji. At around 11:25 a.m. on August 15, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) control room in Alipiri received a bomb threat phone call, the statement said.

The man called the checkpoint's landline from his phone, threatening to detonate a bomb in Alipiri at 3 p.m. “The explosion could have killed at least 100 worshipers,” he said in the menacing appeal. After the call, a comprehensive inspection was carried out at the Alipiri checkpoint. However, no explosives were found during the security check.

A lawsuit was filed against the caller after a TTD vigilance team complained to police about the phone call.

The police opened an investigation and discovered that the phone call was fake. Defendant Balaji was found and taken into custody. The defendant confessed on Saturday to making a false bomb threat.
