'There can be no peace in Manipur as long as...': National Assembly leaders criticize the Center

Congressman Gaurav Gogoi has said that peace cannot return to violence-ravaged Manipur until 6,000 sophisticated weapons and 60,000 ammunition remain available to unbelievers. Gogoi's remarks come a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed ethnic clashes in Manipur in his Independence Day speech, saying peace was slowly returning in the region.

Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Gaurav Gogoi said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi misled the whole country in his Independence Day speech by saying that Manipur is returning to normal. But the truth is that peace cannot return to violence until more than 6,000 state-of-the-art weapons and around 6,000,000 ammunition remain available to the disbelievers.

The congressional leader wondered how peace could exist in this conflict-ridden country without any discussion of reconciliation.

Gaurav Gogoi stated that Meiteis and Kukis were not satisfied with the performance of Minister Manipur N Biren Singh. “It is unfortunate that Interior Minister Amit Shah has consistently supported him,” the parliamentary leader said.

He asked why the peace committee could not resolve the conflict in the state even though the premier was on the committee.

ABOUT NEHRU Museum Rename

Gaurav Gogoi further alleged that the renaming of the Nehru Memorial Museum in Delhi to the Prime Minister's Museum and Library was an attempt by the BJP to offend the Gandhi family.

"I don't know why the central government can't build a new, bigger museum for all the former prime ministers of the country," said Gaurav Gogoi. The Nehru Memorial Library and Museum was actually the home of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and after his death, it was turned into a museum in his honor.

“If the government really wants to build a museum dedicated to the former prime ministers of the country, then the Nehru museum should be kept as it is and a new modern museum dedicated to the former prime ministers could be opened. build. This is nothing but a political ploy by the BJP to insult the Gandhi family,” he said.

“The saffron party wanted to smear the Gandhi family, but people in the country witnessed that even a greengrocer expressed a wish to meet Rahul Gandhi and the very next day his wish was granted. presently. This is the difference between Congress and BJP. Prime Minister Modi met Ambani and Adani, but Rahul Gandhi met an ordinary man,” Gogoi added.

ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE PROCESS AT ASSAM

Speaking about the recent demarcation exercise in Assam, Gaurav Gogoi said, “The Election Commission decided not to wait for the Supreme Court's order and hastily issued the final order. Why was the Chief Justice of India removed from the Election Commission Selection Committee? The BJP wants to demonstrate that the electoral commission is impartial and can design boundaries to their electoral advantage.
