The CID team looking into the bathroom video issue at an Udupi paramedical college has ramped up its investigation and is now seeking the victim's and management representatives' testimony.
Three female college students are accused of using a mobile camera to record a girl in the lavatory last month. The police took a suo motu case even though the girl did not submit a formal complaint, performed an investigation, and recently turned the matter over to the CID.
The statements of the accused students were also taken by CID authorities, under the direction of SP Raghavendra and DySP Anjumala Nayak. According to police sources, the squad is also planning to reenact the incident at the claimed site.
The CID team also gathered information from college staff members and looked at CCTV material from nearby cameras that had been supplied by the district police, who had previously undertaken the inquiry. The Central Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Hyderabad has been provided the three accused students' cell phones. The major video evidence was missing, according to sources, and this contributed to the controversy's lack of clarity.
In the meantime, CID ADGP Manish Karbikar came to Udupi and spoke with CID SP Raghavendra Hegde and Udupi district Superintendent of Police Hakay Akshay Machhindra.
Karbikar later claimed in a statement that he had spoken with police and CID officials about the issue and the direction the investigation should go. According to him, CID DySP Anjumala has been designated as the investigating officer, while CID SP Raghavendra Hegde will be in charge of overseeing the investigation.
The investigating officer will get the report from the forensic science laboratory. Following the investigation, the court will get the report. Three mobile FSL reports have also been acquired by the CID team for the inquiry, he added.
