Which luxury smartphone should you choose between the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

The Galaxy S23 Ultra was introduced by Samsung to the public in February of this year. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 was unveiled in July of last year. Both the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 5 offer a slight improvement over their predecessors in terms of appearance and hardware, as well as in terms of design and features. However, the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 are your best options if you're searching for a top-tier Android flagship smartphone on the market.

But which of the two is really the finest, since there can only be one undisputed king? Which smartphone should you buy, then? Galaxy S23 Ultra from Samsung?

If you prefer a larger screen, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the best option. Surprisingly, it includes not just one, but two displays. The external screen has a 6.2-inch diagonal and a high refresh rate of 120Hz. The internal display, meanwhile, supports multitasking and immersive media consumption and maintains this refresh rate while impressively extending to 7.6 inches.

To clarify, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is your best option if having a bigger screen is your main priority. This in no way suggests that the display on the Galaxy S23 Ultra is subpar; quite the opposite. The S23 Ultra continues Samsung's reputation of having brilliant displays like those found in high-end flagships. It provides an outstanding canvas for your material thanks to its considerable size and QHD+ resolution.

Moving on to other features, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 weighs in at 253g, which is roughly 20g more than the Galaxy S23 Ultra. An additional factor in the larger profile compared to the svelte S series flagship is the foldable design. Unfortunately, the Z Fold 5 lacks a dedicated S Pen slot, as opposed to the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which has one at the base.

In a broader sense, the Galaxy Z Fold 5's folding display poses a potential long-term issue for both phones. Even though Samsung has made significant improvements since the original Galaxy Fold, frequent folding and unfolding may eventually reduce the device's longevity.
