A blast that targeted security forces rocked Peshawar, Pakistan, leaving 1 dead and 8 injured

In an unfortunate incident in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a paramilitary officer lost his life, while eight individuals, including two civilians, sustained injuries in a targeted blast aimed at a security forces vehicle, as reported by local police on Monday.

The attack occurred at approximately 10:30 am (local time) and targeted a vehicle from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Frontier Constabulary's (FC) Mohmand Rifles regiment, according to Warsak Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Arshad Khan. The vehicle was en route from Machni to Peshawar when the explosion took place. Tragically, one paramilitary officer lost his life in the blast, and six other officials suffered injuries. Furthermore, two civilians were also among the wounded.

The SP stated that the attack had been executed using an improvised explosive device (IED), and images from the scene depicted a severely damaged vehicle, along with security forces personnel present at the site.

This incident in Peshawar follows closely on the heels of another tragedy, where nine security personnel lost their lives, and 17 more sustained injuries in a suicide bombing in the Mali Khel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

On a previous occasion, on July 30, a devastating suicide bombing took place during a political party meeting in Khar within the same province. Regrettably, the incident resulted in the loss of 54 lives, with over 100 individuals suffering injuries. The gathering was attended by more than 400 members of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), a hardline Islamist party, and their supporters at the time of the explosion.
