At the age of 84, seasoned actor Birbal Khosla passes away


The news of the passing of veteran actor Satinder Kumar Khosla, fondly known as Birbal, has brought sorrow to many as he breathed his last on a Tuesday evening at a private hospital situated in Mumbai. He had reached the age of 84 at the time of his demise.

It is with a heavy heart that we convey that Khosla left us due to a cardiac arrest, leaving behind a legacy that will forever remain in the annals of Indian cinema. In memory of this beloved artist, his final rites have been scheduled to take place on the ensuing Wednesday, as conveyed by his family members.

The news of his passing has stirred condolences from all walks of life, with individuals from across the spectrum, including those within the film industry, coming forth to share their heartfelt messages of sympathy and remembrance. The Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) penned down their condolences, recognizing the immense contribution Birbal made to the world of entertainment.

Birbal's illustrious career, which spanned over a remarkable five decades, witnessed his remarkable presence in more than 500 films. His portrayal of a prisoner in the iconic film "Sholay" catapulted him into the limelight, earning him immense admiration and applause from both audiences and critics alike.

Birbal was especially renowned for his impeccable comedic timing and his unique physical appearance, characterized by his distinctive bald head and thick mustache, which made him instantly recognizable and beloved by fans.

Hailing from Gurdaspur in Punjab, he took his first step into the world of acting in 1967 with the film "Upkar." From thereon, he graced numerous films across a multitude of languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, and Marathi, etching his name firmly into the annals of Indian cinema.

His cinematic journey included collaborations with celebrated filmmakers such as Manoj Kumar, with whom he worked on notable films like "Upkar," "Roti Kapda Aur Makaan," and "Kranti." Birbal's cinematic repertoire extended to movies such as "Naseeb," "Yaarana," "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke," "Anjaam," and many more.
