Blasts heard in Kiev after air raid warnings; rescue personnel on the scene

Blasts reverberated through Kyiv following an air raid alert on Thursday morning, according to accounts from Reuters witnesses. In response to the situation, authorities swiftly dispatched rescue teams to address potential incidents at multiple locations in the Ukrainian capital.

City Mayor Vitali Klitschko communicated via the Telegram messaging app that air defences were actively engaged, and rescue teams were en route to investigate potential blast sites situated in the eastern and southern districts of the city.

Klitschko also reported that missile debris had descended upon central Kyiv, resulting in damage to non-residential structures in the eastern area, sparking a fire. Tragically, two individuals required hospitalization as a result of these events, including a child.

Furthermore, officials and local media outlets alike relayed information regarding explosions occurring in several regions across Ukraine, including Kharkiv, Khmelnytskiy, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk.

In the western Ukrainian city of Rivne, as documented by the Suspilne media outlet, there was a reported partial power outage. This development raises concerns that the Russian assault may have specifically targeted energy infrastructure in the region.
