DSP Humayun Bhat, who was killed in J&K operations, is honored by his ex-cop father

The widely circulated video features Ghulam Hasaan Bhat, a retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, solemnly placing a floral wreath on the lifeless body of his son, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Humayun Bhat, who tragically lost his life during the Anantnag operations on Wednesday. The emotional scene depicted in the video moved countless individuals on social media to tears, as they witnessed the poignant and composed demeanor of a grieving father. Accompanied by a fellow police officer, Mr. Bhat paid his respects by gently positioning the wreath on the mortal remains of his beloved son.

DSP Humayun Bhat was one among the three Army personnel who met their untimely demise during the Anantnag operations that transpired on the aforementioned Wednesday. Besides Bhat, the casualties included Colonel Manpreet Singh, who served as the Commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, and Major Ashish Dhonach. It was reported by officials that Bhat succumbed to his injuries primarily due to severe blood loss. What adds to the heart-wrenching nature of the situation is the fact that Bhat was a father to a two-month-old daughter, who was present during the somber last rites of her father on that fateful Wednesday evening.

DSP Humayun, who had joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service in the year 2018, celebrated his marriage only a year ago and had recently embraced fatherhood. His sudden demise has left a void that cannot be filled, deeply affecting his family, colleagues, and the entire community.

In response to this tragic incident and the ongoing challenges in the region, Union Minister General VK Singh voiced the importance of reevaluating diplomatic relations with Pakistan. General VK Singh emphasized the need to isolate Pakistan diplomatically to exert pressure and convey that maintaining normal relations would not be possible until Pakistan itself adopts a more peaceful stance.

Furthermore, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, while visiting the grieving family of Humayun Bhat, expressed his concerns about the persisting unrest and encounters in the region. He questioned the government's assertions of militancy being eradicated and highlighted the necessity of finding a path to peace through dialogue rather than confrontation. According to Farooq Abdullah, lasting peace cannot be achieved through conflict but must be sought through meaningful discussions and negotiations.
