Apple hosted its highly-anticipated annual event, known as Wonderlust, on Tuesday, where they unveiled the long-awaited iPhone 15. This latest release encompasses four distinct models: the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. These models have been launched globally, marking a significant moment for Apple enthusiasts worldwide. One of the most notable changes introduced by Apple with the iPhone 15 series is the incorporation of the USB Type-C charging port. It's worth noting that Apple has consistently employed the lightning charging port across all its devices, even as the majority of smartphones in the industry have embraced USB Type-C technology.
The transition from the lightning port to USB Type-C was met with considerable excitement from consumers, prompting many to express their thoughts and opinions on social media platforms. Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, which has been rebranded as X, also joined the conversation and commended Apple for its introduction of the USB Type-C charging port in the iPhone 15 lineup, describing it as 'amazing'.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have been released with storage options in three tiers: 128GB, 256GB, and 512 GB. The pricing structure for these variants is as follows: the 128GB iPhone 15 is priced at Rs 79,900, the 256GB variant is available for Rs 89,900, and the 512GB model can be purchased for Rs 1,09,900. It's worth mentioning that these prices are consistent with those of the previous iPhone 14 model from the preceding year. In the United States, the starting price for the iPhone 15 with 128GB of storage is USD 799.
Turning our attention to the iPhone 15 Plus, the pricing for this model is as follows: the 128GB variant is priced at Rs 89,900, the 256GB variant comes in at Rs 99,900, and the 512GB storage option is available for Rs 1,19,900.
Both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are set to go on sale in India starting from September 22, and pre-orders for these devices will be open from September 15, 5:30 PM IST.
In terms of specifications, the iPhone 15 boasts a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, while the iPhone 15 Plus features a larger 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display. Both models will be offered in a variety of five vibrant colours, including pink, yellow, green, blue, and black. Under the hood, both phones are powered by the A16 bionic chipset, which was previously featured in the iPhone 14 Pro models.
Design-wise, Apple has chosen to retain the same design as the iPhone 14 and its predecessors. However, instead of the conventional notch, these models feature a Dynamic Island notch, which received favourable reviews when introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro models.
One of the standout features of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is their 48-megapixel primary camera sensor, a substantial upgrade from the 12-megapixel dual camera system found in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. Additionally, users will have access to a new 2x Telephoto option. Apple has also promised enhanced portrait photography and improved night photography capabilities. Furthermore, users will have the ability to adjust the focus point of a portrait even after the photo has been captured, offering greater flexibility and creative control.
