Writers and producers are currently on the verge of reaching a resolution to conclude the Writers Guild of America strike. According to CNBC reports, they convened in a face-to-face meeting on Wednesday, September 21, to engage in discussions. The parties involved are now aiming to finalize an agreement by Thursday, September 21, as reported by CNBC. However, in the event that an agreement is not reached on Thursday, there is the possibility that the strike could persist until the conclusion of the year.
In the meantime, the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have jointly issued a statement to inform the public about their collaborative discussions.
For those unfamiliar with the situation, WGA members have been actively participating in the strike for a period exceeding 100 days. Several prominent actors have also joined the strike, leading to the suspension of production for numerous high-profile television shows and films. Among the affected productions are Netflix's 'Stranger Things,' Disney and Marvel's 'Blade,' and Paramount's 'Evil.'
The strike, initiated by over 11,000 film and TV writers on May 2, centres around their argument that their compensation does not align with the revenue generated. Additionally, the writers are advocating for compensation throughout all phases of the production process, including preproduction, production, and postproduction.
