A devastating suicide attack occurred in Pakistan's Balochistan province, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 52 lives and leaving over 50 individuals wounded. This heart-wrenching incident transpired during a religious gathering near a mosque in Balochistan's Mastung district, where people had congregated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.
The explosion, described as "massive" by Mastung Assistant Commissioner Atta Ul Munim, rocked the area, inflicting severe devastation. Among the victims was Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nawaz Gashkori, who had been fulfilling his duty during a religious procession in the vicinity. Tragically, the attacker detonated himself close to the Deputy Superintendent of Police's vehicle, as reported by a senior police officer.
Despite the catastrophic consequences of this attack, no group has claimed responsibility for this heinous act. Notably, the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) explicitly disassociated themselves from any involvement in a statement issued.
It is disheartening to note that this incident marked the second significant explosion to strike the Mastung district in September. Just earlier this month, another explosion occurred, causing injuries to several individuals, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah.
