Manchester United has released an official statement regarding Jadon Sancho, revealing that the English forward will undergo separate training sessions away from the first-team squad. This decision comes on the heels of his social media outburst directed at manager Erik ten Hag following the match against Arsenal.
The disagreement originated when Sancho was conspicuously absent from the squad during a game against Arsenal. Manager Ten Hag defended this choice by asserting that Sancho's performance in training had not met the expected standards. Sancho, however, took exception to these comments and expressed his displeasure on Twitter. In his tweet, which remained prominently displayed at the top of his profile for over a week, he refuted Ten Hag's assertions and alleged that he had been unfairly singled out.Â
Sancho's tweet read, "Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people to say things that are completely untrue. I have conducted myself in training very well this week." He continued, "I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into. I've been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn't fair. All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team." He acknowledged the challenge of playing alongside exceptional teammates and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to do so. He concluded by affirming his commitment to the team and the badge.
Subsequently, Sancho opted to delete the contentious post from his social media account.
Manchester United has now taken action in response to this incident, as indicated in their official statement. They have decided that Jadon Sancho will follow a personalized training regimen separate from the first-team group while a squad discipline issue is resolved.
Manchester United's next match is against Brighton in the Premier League, scheduled for September 16, Saturday.
