On Saturday, the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) achieved an emphatic victory by securing three of the four central panel positions in the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election.
The student organization, affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), emerged victorious following the vote count for DUSU's central panel roles, including president, vice-president, secretary, and joint secretary, which concluded on Saturday evening.
ABVP's triumph received praise from several leaders of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who described the victory as a testament to the younger generation's commitment to the ideology of prioritizing "national interest."
"I have full confidence that the workers of the Council will continue to work with determination to keep the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and the spirit of nationalism alive among the youth," Shah tweeted.
Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated ABVP, stating, "ABVP's success indicates that the youth of the country are committed to building a strong and developed India. Congratulations again to the student council workers."
BJP National President JP Nadda remarked that ABVP is inspired by the principles of Swami Vivekananda and that this victory demonstrates the widespread acceptance of the ideology of 'nation first' among the younger generation, who will play a pivotal role in shaping India's future.
The DUSU elections were held on Friday, September 22, with the results announced today. A total of twenty-four candidates vied for the four positions in the elections.
ABVP's Tushar Dedha emerged as the winner of the DUSU President post, defeating the National Students Union of India (NSUI) candidate Hitesh Gulia. Furthermore, ABVP's Aparajita and Sachin Baisla secured the positions of Secretary and Joint Secretary, respectively, with substantial margins.
Aparajita outpaced Congress-affiliated NSUI's Yakshana Sharma by a margin of 12,937 votes, while Baisla secured victory over Shubham Kumar Chaudhary of NSUI by a margin of 9,995 votes.
Meanwhile, NSUI's Abhi Dahiya clinched the Vice President post, receiving 22,331 votes and defeating ABVP's Sushant Dhankar by a margin of 1,829 votes.
