One tiger cub was saved while two were found dead in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu

Authorities in the Nilgiris region of Tamil Nadu's Coonoor have reported the discovery of three tiger cubs, with the unfortunate outcome that two of them were found deceased while the third cub was successfully rescued and is now receiving necessary care.

The incident unfolded when local residents, on September 14, brought to the attention of forest officials the presence of a tiger in the area. Promptly responding to this information, a team from the forest department established a camp in the vicinity in an attempt to locate the tiger.

Regrettably, the team came across a deceased tiger cub on Sunday, and subsequent efforts led to the discovery of two additional tiger cubs on Tuesday. Among the newly found cubs, one was found alive, while the other had unfortunately succumbed.

The cub that was successfully rescued has been promptly transferred to a team of veterinarians who will provide it with the necessary treatment and care.

In adherence to the guidelines established by the National Tigers Conservation Authority, autopsies will be conducted on the deceased cubs to ascertain the cause of their untimely demise.
