On Sunday, political strategist Prashant Kishor took a veiled swipe at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a day after Nitish Kumar attended the G20 Gala Dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi.
Addressing reporters in Bihar, Prashant Kishor suggested that Nitish Kumar's presence at the G20 Gala Dinner was a strategic move aimed at sending a message to the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The message, as per Kishor, was a subtle pressure tactic, indicating that if he is not given due attention within the NDA, he might consider aligning with the opposition bloc INDIA.
In Prashant Kishor's analogy, he portrayed the NDA as a "window" and INDIA, the opposition bloc, as a "door" for Nitish Kumar. He elaborated that Nitish Kumar has a unique style of practicing politics, where he keeps multiple avenues open, both in terms of alliances and political options. Kishor remarked, "In politics, Nitish Kumar opens a door while also putting a window and an outlet open, keeping in mind the possibilities of using anything whenever the need arrives."
Furthermore, Prashant Kishor mentioned that Harivansh Narayan, a member of the Rajya Sabha who acts as an intermediary between Nitish Kumar and the BJP, presented the NDA as a "window" for the Chief Minister.
The G20 Gala Dinner, hosted by President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday, drew nearly 300 attendees, including heads of state and individuals invited by the Indian government. The event took place at Bharat Mandapam, the designated venue for the G20 Summit.
Several state chief ministers graced the occasion, including Nitish Kumar of Bihar, Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, Hemant Soren of Jharkhand, and Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal, among others. However, Chief Ministers Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh, Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan, Naveen Patnaik of Odisha, and Arvind Kejriwal of Delhi opted not to attend the event.
