Rahul Navin, an esteemed officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), has assumed the pivotal role of interim director within the Enforcement Directorate, a prominent probe agency. This appointment will remain in effect until the selection and appointment of a permanent Director to fill the role. Rahul Navin steps into this position as a successor to Sanjay Kumar Mishra, whose tenure officially concludes on the day of this announcement.
The official order delineates the presidential directive, stating, "The President is pleased to order the cessation of tenure of Shri Sanjay Kumar Mishra, IRS(IT:1984) as Director of Enforcement in the Enforcement Directorate on 15.09.2023 and placing Shri Rahul Navin, IRS(IT: 1993), Special Director, Enforcement Directorate as in-charge Director, Enforcement Directorate till the appointment of a regular Director or until further orders, whichever is earlier."
In addition to his current role as the Special Director within the Enforcement Directorate, Rahul Navin also shoulders the responsibilities of Chief Vigilance Officer at the ED headquarters.
It is noteworthy that Sanjay Kumar Mishra initially assumed the position of ED director with an initial tenure scheduled to culminate in November 2020. Subsequently, an extension of one year was granted to him, a decision that faced legal scrutiny and was subject to a challenge in the highest court of the land.
