Technical difficulties force Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to return to India

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's flight faced technical difficulties during its departure from Delhi on Sunday. The Canadian delegation, which had come to the national capital to attend the G20 Summit, will remain in India until the ground engineering team resolves the issue, according to an airport official speaking to ANI news agency.

Justin Trudeau arrived in Delhi on September 8, just ahead of the G20 Summit, accompanied by his son Xavier.

During his visit on Sunday, he had an informal meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where the issue of Khalistani extremism in Canada was among the key topics discussed. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) reported that PM Modi expressed "strong concerns about the ongoing anti-India activities of extremist elements in Canada."

At a press briefing following the meeting, Trudeau stated, "We are always committed to preventing violence and countering hatred." However, he emphasized that Canada would "continuously uphold freedom of expression, freedom of conscience, and the right to peaceful protest."

Trudeau also acknowledged India as an "important partner to Canada" concerning climate change and efforts to promote growth and prosperity for its citizens. He remarked, "There is always much work to be done, and we will continue our efforts," reaffirming Canada's commitment to collaboration with India.
