The Central Government has granted approval for the establishment of 100 new Sainik Schools across India. This significant initiative will be executed in a phased manner, commencing from Class 6 onwards, and it will be carried out in collaboration with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private schools, and state governments.
The Sainik Schools Society has already formalized a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with 19 new Sainik Schools located across the nation, as stated by the Ministry of Defence.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has additionally given the green light for the establishment of 23 more Sainik Schools through partnership arrangements. This development elevates the total count of new Sainik Schools operating under the purview of the Sainik School Society to 46, supplementing the existing 33 schools operating under the previous framework.
Officials have elucidated that the primary objective underlying this initiative is to furnish students with a high standard of education in alignment with the National Education Policy. It also seeks to broaden their career horizons, offering them the prospect of pursuing careers in the Armed Forces.
Moreover, this endeavor creates opportunities for the private sector to collaborate with the government in contributing to the nation's progress by molding today's youth into responsible citizens of tomorrow.
The newly established Sainik Schools will function under the umbrella of the Sainik Schools Society and adhere to its established rules and regulations. In addition to implementing their respective affiliated board curricula, these schools will also impart the Academic PLUS curriculum to students, conforming to the Sainik school model. This holistic approach aims to provide a comprehensive educational experience.
