The Mexican Congress holds a hearing on UFO sightings that are said to include 'alien' bodies

Mexican legislators participated in an extraordinary congressional event on UFOs, marking the country's first-ever congressional gathering on the subject. During the hearing, which took place on Tuesday, lawmakers were presented with remarkable testimony suggesting that "we are not alone" in the universe, along with alleged remains of non-human entities.

Referred to as FANI (the Spanish acronym for Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, now commonly known as UAP), the hearing featured the presentation of two artifacts by Mexican journalist and longstanding UFO enthusiast Jaime Maussan. Maussan claimed that these objects were the preserved remains of extraterrestrial beings.

According to Maussan, the specimens displayed in cases exhibited distinctive characteristics not related to any terrestrial life forms. These "bodies" possessed three fingers on each hand and elongated heads. Maussan stated that they were discovered in Peru near the ancient Nazca Lines in 2017 and were estimated to be around 1,000 years old. Mexico's National Autonomous University (UNAM) had analyzed them through a carbon dating process.

While previous discoveries of similar nature have turned out to be mummified children, Maussan contended that this was the first instance of such evidence being presented. He declared, "I think there is a clear demonstration that we are dealing with non-human specimens that are not related to any other species in our world, and that all possibilities are open for any scientific institution to investigate it."

Jose de Jesus Zalce Benitez, the Director of the Scientific Institute for Health of the Mexican navy, stated that the remains had undergone X-rays, 3-D reconstruction, and DNA analysis. He unequivocally affirmed, "I can affirm that these bodies have no relation to human beings."

UNAM, however, reiterated a statement originally issued in 2017, emphasizing that their National Laboratory of Mass Spectrometry with Accelerators (LEMA) had solely focused on determining the age of the samples and had not drawn any conclusions regarding their origin.

During the hearing, former U.S. Navy pilot Ryan Graves, who had participated in U.S. Congressional hearings concerning his personal encounters with UAP and the associated stigma in reporting such sightings, also provided testimony.

Congressman Sergio Gutierrez, representing President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's ruling Morena party, expressed his hope that this hearing would be the inaugural event of similar gatherings in Mexico. He remarked, "We are left with reflections, with concerns, and with the path to continue talking about this."

In recent years, the U.S. government has shifted its stance on disclosing information about UAP after decades of secrecy. The Pentagon has actively investigated reported sightings by military aviators, and NASA has formed an independent panel to study UFOs, a first of its kind by the space agency.

The authenticity of Maussan's presentation faced swift backlash and skepticism from critics, with some questioning why the evidence had been presented before the completion of a scientific paper.
