Udhayanidhi predicts the DMK would settle on an alliance with Kamal Haasan's party

Regarding the alliance between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Udhayanidhi expressed his perspective by stating, "The matter concerning the ADMK-BJP alliance is essentially an internal party affair. However, in my view, I do not perceive these two parties as distinct entities; rather, I perceive them as sharing a commonality."

On Saturday, Tamil Nadu's Sports Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin, disclosed that the decision regarding a potential alliance between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) leader Kamal Haasan would be determined by the DMK's leadership at the time of the elections. He stated, "The final determination concerning a potential alliance with Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam party will be made by the party's leadership during the electoral period."

Udhayanidhi Stalin made these remarks during the foundation stone laying ceremony for 1800 new residential units in the Kotturpuram project area, representing the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board.

Addressing the Supreme Court's notice in relation to his statements about 'Sanatan Dharma,' he commented, "I became aware of the Supreme Court's order through the media. To date, no official notice requesting an explanation has been received. We have faith in the Supreme Court, and once the notice is formally delivered, we will provide an appropriate response."

The Supreme Court issued a notice to the Tamil Nadu government and DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday following his remarks calling for the "eradication" of 'Sanatan Dharma.' While discussing the ADMK-BJP alliance, Udhayanidhi conveyed, "This is essentially an internal party matter, but in my perception, these two parties appear to be indistinguishable."

Amidst the controversy surrounding Udhayanidhi Stalin's comments about 'Sanatana Dharma,' actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan remarked on Friday that the focus was on a young individual (Udhayanidhi) merely because he had spoken about 'Sanatana.'

Kamal Haasan further pointed out that the concept of 'Sanatana' became known to many through Periyar. He stated, "A young individual (Udhayanidhi Stalin) is facing scrutiny simply for discussing 'Sanatana.' His ancestors also spoke about 'Sanatana.' Periyar was the one who introduced us to 'Sanatana.'"

Haasan additionally shared that Periyar had previously worked in a temple and engaged in religious rituals in Varanasi with a 'tilak' mark on his forehead. He emphasized the depth of Periyar's dedication to societal service and the reason behind his transition from religious rituals to a life dedicated to serving the people. Haasan remarked, "Periyar once served in a temple, performing 'puja' in Varanasi with a 'tilak' on his forehead. One can only imagine the profound conviction that led him to forsake all of that and commit himself to serving the people, recognizing it as the most significant form of service. Throughout his life, he remained devoted to society."

He also added, "Neither the DMK nor any other political party can assert exclusive ownership of Periyar. Tamil Nadu will commemorate Periyar as a figure of collective significance."

On September 2, during a public event, Udhayanidhi Stalin called for the "eradication" of 'Sanatana Dharma' and likened it to diseases such as dengue and malaria.
