A businessman residing in Uttar Pradesh recently reported that he had received an extortion call from an international number, with the caller identifying himself as none other than the notorious gangster Goldy Brar. Officials disclosed this unsettling incident on Sunday and informed the public that the Uttar Pradesh Police have taken immediate action by registering a First Information Report (FIR) to commence investigations.
Goldy Brar is a criminal with a global reputation, wanted not only by India but also by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He is sought after in connection with various criminal cases across different states in the country. Additionally, Brar is a prime suspect in the murder case of Punjabi singer Siddhu Moosewala.
According to details provided in the FIR, the complainant received the initial call on September 10th at 6 p.m. This call came from an international number on the WhatsApp messaging platform. In this initial call, the caller identified himself as Goldy Brar, claiming to be a member of Lawrence Bishnoi's gang.
At first, the complainant was skeptical, considering it to be a potentially fake call. However, his fears were confirmed when he received a second call from the same international number on September 12th, during which the caller repeated the threats.
During this subsequent call, the businessman, based in western Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly demanded to pay a sum of Rs 2 crore. Furthermore, the caller sent a voice note, in which he explicitly identified himself as Goldy Brar.
The FIR reveals that the complainant is now living in constant fear, feeling unable to carry out his daily routines.
In response to this alarming situation, the Uttar Pradesh Police has taken swift action by registering a case under sections 504 (pertaining to intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of the peace) and 507 (related to criminal intimidation through anonymous communication) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The investigation into this matter is already underway.
The voice note received by the businessman contains Brar's self-identification, where he confidently states, "... jaan hai to jahan hai, wadhia kaam karte raho... meri voice check karwani hai to karwa lo" (if there's life, everything is there. Keep doing good work. If you want to get my voice checked then get it done).
The pertinent information regarding this incident has also been shared with the security agencies. Presently, Brar is believed to be hiding in the United States, making him an even more elusive figure. In July of this year, Interpol issued a Red Corner Notice (RNC) against him, emphasizing the international dimension of the hunt for this wanted gangster.
To add to this developing story, it's worth noting that earlier in June, the well-known singer and rapper Honey Singh had also filed a police complaint, alleging threats from Goldy Brar. In response, the Delhi Police's Special Cell promptly registered an FIR related to this complaint.
