Harjeet Singh, who also goes by the alias Harry Maud and is known as a field operative associated with Khalistani terrorists Arsh Dalla and Sukha Duneka, has been apprehended by the Delhi Police's Special Cell. This development occurred on Friday, marking his arrest in connection with four murder cases. The arrest follows closely on the heels of the killing of gangster Sukhdool Singh, alias Sukha Duneke, in Winnipeg, Canada, who was wanted in India. Initially, reports suggested that Sukhdool Singh's death was a result of a feud between rival gangs.
Harjeet Singh was taken into custody from Sarita Vihar. According to Pratiksha Godara, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Special Cell, "He is the field operative of Arsh Dalla and Sukha Duneke...Harry Maud is a resident of Bathinda (in Punjab) and is 27 years old."
This arrest follows the police's recent apprehension of another member of the Dala-Duneke gang, mirroring Harjeet Singh's situation. Much like Harjeet Singh, Sukhdool Singh hailed from Punjab and was a resident of Moga district.
Harjeet Singh's arrest has taken place during a period of diplomatic tension between India and Canada, stemming from the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, British Columbia. Najjar, who was wanted in India, was fatally shot outside a gurdwara in June. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the country's security agencies were investigating potential connections between the Indian government and Nijjar's killing, emphasizing Nijjar's status as a "Canadian citizen." India has rejected these allegations, dismissing them as "absurd" and "motivated."
