According to a BJP MP, Mahua Moitra accepted bribes to ask questions in Parliament

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP), Nishikant Dubey, has recently made serious allegations against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP, Mahua Moitra, claiming that she solicited financial contributions from a businessman in exchange for raising specific queries in Parliament.

In a letter addressed to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Nishikant Dubey has called for the establishment of an investigative committee to look into the matter involving Mahua Moitra. His accusations suggest that financial transactions and gifts were exchanged between Mahua Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani in return for her posing questions in the parliamentary sessions.

Furthermore, he has urged the immediate suspension of Mahua Moitra from her duties within the House pending the outcome of the investigation.

Nishikant Dubey's comprehensive two-page letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla lays out his claims in detail. He contends that during parliamentary sessions, certain members of the All India Trinamool Congress, led by figures such as Mohua Moitra and Saugata Roy, habitually disrupt the proceedings by resorting to constant verbal confrontations aimed at various individuals, thereby impeding the House's ability to engage in substantive debates.

Dubey alleges that these actions by Trinamool Congress members infringe upon the Constitutional rights of other parliamentarians to engage in discussions concerning the concerns and policies impacting the general public.

The BJP MP goes on to assert that evidence suggests a "quid pro quo" arrangement and implicates Mahua Moitra in a scenario where she allegedly collected funds from a business entity in return for raising specific questions within the Lok Sabha, apparently targeting a different business group in the process.

Nishikant Dubey contends that the title of "firebrand Member of Parliament," often attributed to Mahua Moitra, does not align with her alleged actions.

Responding to these allegations raised by Dubey, Mahua Moitra expressed her readiness to face any legal motions or investigations. Via a platform, she welcomed such proceedings and additionally pointed out that there are several pending cases involving other BJP members for various breaches of privilege. She suggested that any action against her should come after the conclusion of these other investigations. Mahua Moitra also mentioned her expectation for further investigations related to the Adani coal scam to be pursued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and other authorities before any allegations are directed at her.
