Actor Gautami Tadimalla resigns, and the Tamil Nadu BJP chief says, We are on her side

Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai asserted that the party extended its support to ensure the filing of an FIR against an individual accused of swindling actor Gautami Tadimalla. Following Gautami's resignation from the BJP, citing a "lack of support" and alleging collusion by certain party members with the accused, Annamalai clarified that there was a misunderstanding, and the party is, in fact, on her side.

Gautami Tadimalla, who had been associated with the BJP for 25 years, parted ways with the party on Friday, claiming inadequate backing and accusing some party members of conspiring with an individual who allegedly defrauded her.

In response to her resignation, Annamalai stated, "I spoke to Gautami Tadimalla on the phone, and she demanded swift action... we supported her in getting the FIR registered, but she now feels that some BJP workers are trying to shield the accused. No one is attempting to shield him (the accused). I also had a conversation with Gautami today. This is a misunderstanding."

"The police need to investigate and take appropriate action. Nobody in the BJP is attempting to shield the accused, who has no affiliation with the BJP... he was Gautami's friend for 25 years, and he deceived her. This is a matter between Gautami and him. We stand with Gautami in this," he added.

In her resignation letter, Gautami expressed that she found herself at an "unimaginable crisis point" in her life as she made the difficult choice to leave the party "with a heavy heart and profound disillusionment."

Gautami alleged that an individual named C Alagappan had befriended her two decades ago, taking advantage of her "vulnerability and isolation." She mentioned that at the time, she was not only an orphan who had recently lost both her parents but also a single mother with an infant child.

Gautami revealed that she had entrusted Alagappan with the management of her properties. She further explained that she had recently discovered he had defrauded her of her properties, all while pretending to embrace her and her daughter as part of his family.

"It is devastating to realize that there is a complete absence of support and, moreover, that several senior BJP members have been aiding Alagappan in evading justice and remaining at large for the past 40 days, even after FIRs were filed," Gautami alleged.

She expressed her hope that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, the police department, and the judicial system would assist her in seeking justice.
