Adhir Ranjan told the PM and Mamata about the Bengal floods, Now is not the time to shift blame

In light of a significant natural disaster affecting West Bengal and Sikkim, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has penned letters to both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, urging them not to engage in blame-shifting but instead to extend their assistance to the affected populace.

In his communication addressed to the Prime Minister, he underscored the dire flood situation in West Bengal, particularly in seven districts encompassing East and West Burdwan, West Medinipur, Hooghly, Howrah, South 24 Parganas, and Birbhum. In his letter, Chowdhury emphasized the importance of refraining from assigning fault for the floods, whether they are attributed to human actions or natural causes. Instead, he stressed the necessity of concentrating on the rescue and aid efforts for the affected individuals, providing them with essential provisions such as food, clean drinking water, and medicines, while putting aside any differences of opinion.

Chowdhury urged all parties involved to prioritize the safety of individuals when facing perilous situations. He called upon both the Indian central government and the state government to mobilize their disaster management resources to the fullest extent to offer relief to those affected by the floods. He requested Prime Minister Modi to stand in solidarity with the flood-affected population of Bengal and to assist the state government in every possible way to combat the flood crisis.

In a parallel letter addressed to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he reiterated the expectation that both the central government and the state government would fully utilize their respective disaster management resources to provide aid to flood victims, emphasizing the critical need for relief efforts during this challenging time.
