Air traffic operations have resumed at Hamburg Airport in Germany, as reported by a spokesperson on Monday. This development follows a police operation conducted in response to a threat directed at a flight originating from Tehran. Earlier, a federal police spokesperson had revealed that authorities, in response to a threat communicated via email, conducted a search of a plane carrying 198 passengers from Tehran, which had landed in the northern German city. Furthermore, the German Air Force disclosed on its social media account that it had escorted the aircraft as it entered German airspace to address a bomb threat, which prompted this heightened security response.
Routine procedures, including passenger interviews, were carried out by the police when dealing with a threat of this magnitude, according to the police spokesperson. Due to the airport fire brigade's involvement in the search, takeoffs and landings were temporarily halted, resulting in a disruption of airport activities.
This incident coincided with the commencement of a special meeting between the German and French governments in Hamburg, which saw the participation of Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Emmanuel Macron.
