All the details on Prime Minister Modi's inauguration of India's first RAPIDX rail project

The inaugural ceremony of the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor, spanning a distance of 17 kilometers, is set to be a momentous occasion graced by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled for this upcoming Friday. During this event, he will commence the journey of a revolutionary RAPIDX train, symbolizing the official commencement of the RRTS project within India. This pioneering 17-kilometer stretch will create a vital linkage, connecting Sahibabad to the Duhai Depot, with strategically located stations at Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and Duhai.

Following the inauguration, the priority section between Sahibabad and the Duhai depot will be opened to the public on October 21, offering an accessible and swift mode of transportation. This segment encompasses five key stations, namely Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot, catering to the needs of a diverse range of commuters.

The RAPIDX trains, designed for an operational speed of 160 kilometers per hour, are replete with passenger-centric features tailored for a seamless regional commuting experience. Notable amenities include ergonomically crafted 2x2 transverse seating, abundant standing room, designated luggage storage, surveillance by CCTV cameras, convenient laptop or mobile charging outlets, dynamic route maps, automated ambient lighting control, a comprehensive heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system (HVAC), in addition to an array of other amenities. The RAPIDX trains will operate from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., ensuring a service frequency of 15 minutes.

Each RAPIDX train comprises six coaches and can comfortably accommodate approximately 1,700 passengers, offering a blend of seated and standing arrangements. The standard coach boasts 72 seats, while the premium coach provides 62 seating options. Ticket pricing ranges from a minimum of Rs 20 to a maximum of Rs 50 per passenger for standard coaches, while the premium coach offers fares ranging from Rs 40 to Rs 100 per passenger. Moreover, one coach within every RAPIDX train has been reserved exclusively for women, positioned adjacent to the premium coach. Furthermore, provisions have been made to accommodate women, specially-abled individuals, and senior citizens in every coach.

The premium coach is equipped with an array of additional commuter-friendly features such as reclining seats, coat hooks, magazine holders, and footrests. The first and last coaches, which are oriented towards Meerut and Delhi respectively, will serve as premium coaches. Access to the Premium Coach is granted through a dedicated premium lounge at the platform, furnished with comfortable cushioned seating and a vending machine for snacks and beverages.

Each train will be staffed by attendants positioned within the premium coach, playing a crucial role in assisting passengers and acquainting them with the available facilities. Various ticketing options have been introduced, including QR code-based one-time tickets and card-based transit options for all journeys. The QR code-based paper ticket can be generated using Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) or purchased from ticket counters at the RAPIDX stations.

The TVMs are Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-enabled, facilitating the recharge of the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) balance, which can be used for all journeys. Passengers have multiple payment methods at their disposal, including bank notes, bank cards, NCMC cards, and UPI for purchasing tickets from the TVM. The NCMC card aligns with the government's 'One Nation, One Card' vision, making it universally applicable in all transit systems and wherever card payments are accepted. Additionally, a digital QR code-based ticket can be generated through the NCRTC mobile application, known as 'RAPIDX Connect.'

To extend the reach of the RRTS stations and provide comprehensive transit coverage, the NCRTC has collaborated with two mobility operators to offer feeder services using e-rickshaws. In response to increased demand, these operators may deploy larger vehicles as needed, ensuring convenient access to urban areas like Raj Nagar Extension, Jagriti Vihar, GDA Colony, as well as vital village communities such as Bikanpur, Milak Chakarpur, Shahpur Nij Morta, Basantpur Senthali, and Atour Nagla.

In order to enhance the travel experience in RAPIDX trains, a dedicated area has been allocated in the last coach of the train to accommodate wheelchairs and stretchers. Passengers will receive real-time information about the next train's arrival through electronic public displays on the station platform. Regular announcements regarding train arrivals and other essential updates will be made at regular intervals.

For information on train services and general inquiries, commuters can visit the Information Desk at the RAPIDX stations or access information through the 'RAPIDX Connect mobile application and RAPIDX's social media platforms. An alternative option is to contact the RAPIDX Customer Service Centre at 08069651515.

Safety and security at the stations will be handled by the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), ensuring a secure environment for all passengers. Moreover, comprehensive facilities, including first aid services and the arrangement of ambulance services for medical emergencies, will be available at all RAPIDX stations. A dedicated Lost and Found Center has been established within the RAPIDX system to facilitate the retrieval of lost items within 24 hours.
