As Abhishek Banerjee continues his protest, Trinamool officials will meet with the Bengal governor

The ongoing indefinite sit-in demonstration outside Raj Bhavan, led by Trinamool Congress (TMC) activists under the guidance of senior leader Abhishek Banerjee, has now entered its third consecutive day. The protesters are steadfast in their resolve to continue the protest until Governor CV Ananda Bose personally meets them at the protest site. Simultaneously, a group of demonstrators plans to pay a visit to the governor in Darjeeling on Saturday.

According to sources associated with Raj Bhavan, Governor Bose has consented to meet the delegation at the Gubernatorial Mansion in Darjeeling at 5:30 pm, following an email request made by TMC leader Derek O'Brien.

The governor's decision to meet the delegation comes against the backdrop of the TMC's ongoing sit-in protest, spearheaded by Abhishek Banerjee, which has two primary demands: first, the release of West Bengal's MGNREGA dues by the Central government, and second, a face-to-face meeting with Governor Bose.

However, Abhishek Banerjee, who also serves as the TMC national general secretary, has asserted that the protest will persist until Governor Bose personally visits the demonstrators at their protest site outside Raj Bhavan.

Banerjee went on to specify that the TMC's three-member delegation would comprise the state's Panchayat Minister Pradip Mazumdar, along with Lok Sabha MPs Kalyan Banerjee and Mahua Moitra.

This protest action initiated by the TMC national general secretary commenced on Thursday, with a significant number of party members and senior leaders converging on the historic British-era building to register their grievance regarding the alleged withholding of West Bengal's MGNREGA dues by the Central government.

Abhishek Banerjee has remained steadfast at the protest site over the past two nights, alongside hundreds of party workers, engaging in meetings and discussions with them.

It's worth noting that the governor is currently situated in north Bengal to assess the flood situation in the region.
