In an operation based on a tip-off, the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) conducted a raid in the North 24 Parganas district in the early hours of Thursday, revealing the existence of a drug manufacturing facility.
The STF's operation resulted in the discovery of a narcotics manufacturing unit and the seizure of narcotics with an estimated value of Rs 16 crore. Four individuals, identified as Kakali Roy (the group's leader), Doli Sarder, Tapan Mondal, and Abhijit Biswas, were apprehended during the operation.
The STF had received information indicating the operation of a heroin manufacturing unit in a village within the North 24 Parganas district, specifically in Kakali Roy's residence.
According to STF authorities, the arrested individuals were involved in the production of heroin, which was subsequently distributed to customers in various locations, including Kolkata and Howrah.
The house's living areas, including bedrooms, kitchen, and washrooms, had been repurposed into different sections to facilitate the manufacturing of heroin, as reported by the STF.
Following questioning, Kakali Roy admitted her involvement in a heroin manufacturing enterprise, which she operated in collaboration with her associates. Her partners were responsible for providing the necessary raw materials and arranging for the sale of the finished heroin.
Following the interrogation, charges were filed against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at a local police station.
This recent action by the STF took place shortly after it successfully dismantled a drug trafficking network and seized approximately 1.130 kg of heroin with a value of Rs 1 crore in West Bengal's Murshidabad district.
