Shehzad Poonawalla, a prominent spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), raised concerns about internal discord within the Congress party in various states heading into elections. Poonawalla asserted that Rahul Gandhi, a key figure in the Congress party, should consider launching a "Congress Jodo Yatra" rather than the "Bharat Jodo Yatra." He specifically suggested that this yatra should commence in Rajasthan.
Speaking with reporters in Kota, Poonawalla highlighted that the Congress party is grappling with internal divisions among its leaders in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana.
Poonawalla took a satirical stance when commenting on the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a political campaign led by Rahul Gandhi, by pointing out that the task of unifying India was historically attributed to Vallabhbhai Patel.
He expressed his perspective by saying, "They should take out a 'Congress Jodo Yatra' instead of 'Bharat Jodo Yatra,' and Rahul Ji should kick it off from Rajasthan." Poonawalla made reference to the power struggle between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy, Sachin Pilot, in Rajasthan.
In addition, Poonawalla leveled allegations of corruption in the construction of the Chambal Riverfront in Kota, a project inaugurated recently. He raised concerns by stating that upon his arrival, local residents informed him that the "Congress has a Kalmadi in Kota," alluding to Suresh Kalmadi, who faced accusations in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) scam case.
These developments take place as several Indian states prepare for upcoming assembly elections, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram, scheduled to be held next month.
