BJP Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey has levied allegations against Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra, accusing her of engaging in questionable conduct related to parliamentary questions and suggesting that she accepted bribes from businessman Darshan Hiranandani to pose queries in the Parliament. On Thursday, Dubey underscored the importance of national security and the dignity of the Parliament as his foremost priorities.
Expressing his stance on the matter, the BJP leader shared on X, "The security of the country and the dignity of the Parliament are paramount for me. Satyamev Jayate (Truth always wins)."
This declaration came in the wake of revelations by Darshan Hiranandani, the implicated businessman, who submitted an affidavit to the Parliament's Ethics Committee. In his affidavit, Hiranandani alleged that Mahua Moitra had provided her parliamentary login credentials to him, enabling him to "submit questions on her behalf."
Incidentally, Nishikant Dubey had previously made the same accusations in a formal complaint to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. In his complaint, Dubey contended that Mahua Moitra had shared access to her Lok Sabha website account with Hiranandani, alleging the existence of irrefutable evidence of financial exchanges between Moitra and the businessman.
Supporting the assertion of truth prevailing, lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai, who had contributed to presenting the evidence, also shared a message on X, "Truth always wins!"
In response to these allegations, Mahua Moitra firmly denied any wrongdoing and welcomed an investigation, suggesting that the charges were linked to personal disputes, referring to Jai Anant Dehadrai as a "jilted ex."
Furthermore, she issued a legal notice to Nishikant Dubey and Jai Anant Dehadrai, characterizing the allegations as "defamatory" and unfounded, as they lacked any credible substantiation. In the notice, Moitra asserted that the claims implying she had accepted any form of benefit in return for her parliamentary duties were baseless and aimed at tarnishing her reputation for personal and political motives.
The Hiranandani Group, earlier disassociating itself from political involvement, denied any wrongdoing in the matter. Nevertheless, Darshan Hiranandani's affidavit stated that Mahua Moitra had aspired to gain national recognition rapidly and had been encouraged by advisors to attain fame by taking a critical stance against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This complex issue continues to raise questions about parliamentary conduct, ethical standards, and the veracity of the allegations at hand.
