A potentially catastrophic incident was narrowly averted when the train drivers of the Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express took swift action on Monday. They applied the emergency brakes after noticing the presence of stones and rods on the railway tracks. In a fortunate turn of events, it was discovered that two children had placed these objects on the tracks while they were engaged in playful activities. This revelation came from a Rajasthan Police officer on Tuesday.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrawan Das in Gangrar, the two children had innocently positioned stones and iron rods onto the railway tracks as part of their playtime. They had even acquired a few insulator pins from a nearby powerhouse and strategically placed them on the railway track. Remarkably, their father, who works in a nearby field, remained unaware of their actions throughout this incident.
Images and videos of the stones and two one-foot rods placed within the fish plates of the railway track surfaced on social media, though their authenticity remained unverified.
The police promptly took the children into custody and proceeded to question them thoroughly. Subsequent actions and decisions will be made based on the information gathered during this investigative process, the police assured.
The presence of these objects on the tracks was detected around 9:55 a.m. on Monday, leading to the initiation of a thorough investigation by both the Railway Police and the local police.
The Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express, operating six days a week with the exception of Tuesdays, typically embarks on its journey from Udaipur city at 7:50 am and arrives in Jaipur at 14:05 pm.
