In Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh, a confrontation erupted between two distinct communities on Sunday regarding the path of a 'shobha yatra,' which is a religious procession. This dispute culminated in one individual sustaining injuries when the confrontation escalated to stone-throwing.
The clash transpired when a 'Ram Baarat' procession was in motion and encountered a disagreement between two separate groups concerning its designated route. As tensions flared, local markets ceased their activities, and impassioned slogans of discontent were voiced against the local administrative authorities.
Subsequently, the police arrived at the scene to defuse the heightened tension. While it was affirmed by the police that the dispute primarily revolved around the procession's route, they also reassured that the situation had been brought under control.
A senior police official disclosed that security personnel had been dispatched, and they were in the process of investigating the grievances submitted by both parties involved in the incident.
