During the Jalvihar Mahotsav in Mauranipur, Jhansi, a situation of chaos emerged on Thursday night during a dance performance featuring Russian girls, eventually leading the police to employ lathi charge as a means to control the escalating disorder. The resultant commotion resulted in a stampede-like scenario, causing injuries to numerous individuals.
Reportedly, despite police-imposed restrictions, the fair, located approximately 75 kilometers from Jhansi's central hub, decided to include Russian performers in their program. This decision drew a significant and unruly crowd, ultimately leading to the intervention of the police, as per informed sources.
According to eyewitnesses, the police employed lathi charge measures against individuals who were actively participating in the dance performance. Those injured during this incident were subsequently transported to a nearby community health center for medical attention.
Among the injured, one individual, Raj, suffered a severe eye injury and was subsequently referred to Jhansi Medical College for further treatment. Recounting the incident, Raj stated, "There was a lathi charge on us during the fair and festival. During a dance program, police bashed us and I got injured."
Dr. Ravindra from the community center confirmed the patient's critical condition and his referral to Jhansi Medical College after receiving initial first aid. He stated, "The police have brought a patient. Jalvihar Mahotsav is going on here. There was a lathi charge by the police. He got injured in the same. The condition of the patient is not good.
