In the aftermath of his controversial public display of a firearm within a hospital, an MLA affiliated with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United), Gopal Mandal, has once again found himself embroiled in a fresh controversy as he verbally berated journalists.
When journalists sought clarification from Gopal Mandal regarding his decision to carry a firearm into the hospital, he retorted, "Who are you to question me? Yes, I shall openly display it. Tum log humare baap ho ki mana karoge? (Do you presume yourselves to be my fathers, and thus, capable of stopping me?)"
The legislator went on to affirm that he indeed had the pistol in his possession and inquired whether the journalists were interested in inspecting it.
In the face of persisting inquiries, Mandal's irritation escalated, leading him to resort to verbal abuse directed at the journalists. Moreover, he made efforts to physically remove the microphones.
Earlier in the week, a video surfaced, capturing Mandal wielding a pistol within the premises of the state-run Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital in Bhagalpur. At the time, the MLA had accompanied his granddaughter for a CT scan, and the pistol was observed in his grasp as he stood in the hospital's corridor.
This incident triggered a wave of intense criticism aimed at the MLA, with many asserting that it exposed the prevalence of lawlessness, often referred to as "jungle raj," in the state of Bihar.
