Ghaus Mohammad, the prime suspect in the tragic murder case of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, has been transferred to a hospital on account of his deteriorating health conditions. Earlier, he was incarcerated in a high-security prison located in Ajmer, Rajasthan, following his apprehension in connection with the disturbing 2022 incident that had sent shockwaves throughout the country.
This unfortunate event unfolded in June 2022 when two individuals entered Kanhaiya Lal's shop in Udaipur and, in broad daylight, brutally murdered him before fleeing the scene. This horrifying occurrence was captured by security cameras, leading to a nationwide outcry.
Subsequently, the two individuals responsible for the heinous act, namely Ghaus Mohammad and Riyas Attari, recorded a video in which they confessed to their involvement in Kanhaiya's killing. Law enforcement authorities promptly arrested them.
The accused individuals asserted that their motive for the murder stemmed from Kanhaiya Lal's support for Nupur Sharma, a former spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who had made contentious statements concerning the Prophet Muhammad.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) assumed control of the case, and in December 2022, they filed an official charge sheet against Mohammed, Attaro, and nine others. The charges include murder, terrorism, and a range of other offenses. The case is currently undergoing legal proceedings in a court of law.
