Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed his concern about what he sees as the unjust imposition of false charges, aimed at intimidating opposition leaders and political parties. He noted that these actions have given rise to an "atmosphere of fear" within the country, which he believes is detrimental to its well-being.
In response to questions from reporters regarding the various raids conducted by central agencies, Kejriwal commented on the practice of unjustly leveling false accusations as a means to suppress and intimidate opposition figures and parties. He highlighted instances where individuals have been allegedly coerced or manipulated to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which he believes poses a threat to the democratic principles of the nation.
These remarks from Kejriwal came in the wake of the recent arrest of senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money-laundering investigation linked to the 2021-22 Delhi Excise policy case. Kejriwal further asserted that it's not only opposition leaders but also many businesspeople who are reportedly facing similar targeting.
Kejriwal expressed his concern that the prevailing atmosphere of fear in the country, extending beyond the realm of politics to business, trade, and industry, is detrimental to the nation's progress. He emphasized that a country cannot advance when immersed in such an environment and that engaging in this cycle of agency-related actions will not contribute to the country's growth.
The chief minister made these remarks during a visit to the Ghazipur landfill site in eastern Delhi while speaking with members of the press.
