Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Congress party, for his recent remarks regarding the issue of dynasty politics, characterizing him as an 'anpadh baccha' (illiterate child) who has a limited understanding of the political landscape.
Rahul Gandhi had made reference to the roles held by Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during a press conference conducted in the context of the upcoming elections in Mizoram.
He posed questions such as, "What is Amit Shah's son's current occupation? What is the exact role of Rajnath Singh's son?" He also suggested that Amit Shah's son was responsible for running Indian cricket and raised the matter of dynastic politics among the offspring of various leaders within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In response to Rahul Gandhi's comments, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his view, stating, ''Why is Amit Shah's son being brought into this conversation? He is not a member of the BJP. However, Rahul's entire family is deeply engaged in politics. Rahul appears to assume that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is closely aligned with the BJP. But let's not delve too deeply into his statements; he is akin to an 'anpadh baccha' (illiterate child).''
Sarma further highlighted the distinctions between the roles of Amit Shah's son and Rajnath Singh's son in comparison to the prominent figures within the Congress, asserting, ''Can Rajnath Singh's son, who currently serves as an MLA in Uttar Pradesh, be equated to someone like (Congress general secretary) Priyanka Gandhi? Does he wield authority over the BJP?''
He went on to emphasize that Rahul Gandhi should offer opportunities to emerging talents within the party before commenting on issues pertaining to dynasty politics. Sarma contended that Rahul Gandhi appears to lack a profound understanding of politics and seems unaware of the substantial influence that his own family, including his mother, father, grandfather, sister, and brother, wields within the political sphere. This stands in stark contrast to the BJP, which he suggested is not characterized by the same level of dynastic dominance.
