India can now give more to the globe with more assurance: Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated that India has become a nation with increased confidence and a greater capacity to contribute to the world. Addressing the Indian community in Vietnam, Jaishankar highlighted India's global role, including hosting a successful G20 summit in New Delhi and its deep historical and cultural connections with Vietnam.

He emphasized that India's impact on the world stage is growing, and it is increasingly seen as a country that can harmonize global contradictions, bridge divides, and find common ground among nations. India's ability to address important global issues, such as development, climate change, terrorism, and debt, is gaining recognition, with other nations looking to India to articulate positions on these matters.

Jaishankar noted that India and Vietnam are among the fastest-growing economies in Asia, and there is potential for significant growth in their $15 billion bilateral trade volume. He emphasized the importance of setting ambitious targets and creating pathways to realize them.

In terms of defense and security, Jaishankar highlighted India's longstanding partnership with Vietnam and discussed how the two countries can further broaden their relationship and accelerate cooperation.

Jaishankar stressed the importance of people-to-people connections and acknowledged the role of the Indian community in strengthening India's global outreach. He emphasized that cooperation between nations is driven by people, and the Indian diaspora plays a crucial role in this process.

Jaishankar's visit to Vietnam is part of his official four-day visit to the country, where he has discussed various aspects of India-Vietnam relations and cooperation.
