In light of the recent allegations made by the Karnataka BJP regarding two officials purportedly seeking a commission from the esteemed sarod maestro, Pandit Rajeev Taranath, in exchange for his performance at a cultural event during Dasara, the Karnataka government has taken a significant step by initiating an inquiry into this matter.
The allegations brought forth by Karnataka BJP leaders revolve around the claim that these officials requested a substantial commission of Rs 3 lakh from Pandit Rajeev Taranath to grace the Mysuru Palace with his performance during Dasara.
In response to these allegations, BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil expressed his astonishment and highlighted the grave implications of the alleged corruption within the Siddaramaiah Congress Government. He mentioned that the officers from the Dasara Organizing Committee demanded a percentage of the funds from Pandit Rajeev Taranath for his participation in the Mysuru Dasara 2023 event. Furthermore, he suggested that the Congress High Command has predetermined percentages assigned for various events and grants in Karnataka.
During a press conference held on Sunday, BJP leader CT Ravi conveyed his deep disappointment and shock regarding the situation, noting that the request for a Rs 3 lakh bribe, which translates to a staggering 60 percent commission, was an utterly disgraceful act.
However, it is important to acknowledge that the Chief Minister's office has countered these allegations, vehemently refuting the claims made by the Karnataka BJP. Consequently, they have taken the responsible step of commencing an inquiry into the matter. This decision aligns with the stance adopted by Mysuru District Incharge Minister HC Mahadevappa.
As a result of the complaint filed, a case has been registered in Mysuru under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 384, 420, and 511, which relate to offenses such as extortion and cheating. This case underscores the significance of thoroughly investigating such allegations in a fair and impartial manner.
