Karnataka will examine projects sanctioned under the BJP government

The Karnataka government has opted to initiate an evaluation process encompassing the projects that were sanctioned during the BJP regime and those that are yet to be initiated. This determination transpired during a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Inside sources have revealed that the financial requirements for the endorsed undertakings far surpass the budgetary allocations set forth during the previous administration. Moreover, the outstanding invoices have witnessed a significant upsurge.

Specifically, in the realm of the minor irrigation department, the pending bill for 2018 amounted to Rs 440 crore. Nevertheless, as of the conclusion of September, this sum had ballooned to Rs 3,036 crore.

Over the past two years, the financial requisites have expanded threefold in comparison to the initially endorsed budget. Consequently, this has led to a substantial escalation in the backlog of unpaid bills. In light of these circumstances, the Chief Minister has resolved to undertake an extensive review encompassing not only new projects but also those that were previously sanctioned.

This decision was reached by the Chief Minister during a comprehensive assessment of the progress made by the minor irrigation and groundwater development department, a meeting held at his official residence, Krishna.
